Anna Boghiguian
Turner Contemporary
Recognised as one of the most compelling contemporary artists of our time, Anna Boghiguian’s globally celebrated work responds to contemporary issues, including politics, society, and history. For her latest major exhibition at Turner Contemporary, The Sunken Boat: A glimpse into past histories we were tasked with creating the exhibition identity and marketing campaign assets.
THE CHALLENGE
To raise awareness for this major exhibition and its internationally renowned artist; and to create an exhibition identity that complimented Turner’s new organisational branding – positioning the gallery and Margate as a leading international art destination.
OUR SOLUTION
Following several site visits to Margate to meet with Turner’s team, we delved into the world of artist Anna Boghiguian to find solutions inspired by her process. With installations often likened to ‘giant pop-up books’ and inspired by the cut-outs featured in The Sunken Boat, we set about creating a bespoke font that would capture the spirit of Boghiguian’s work. Using a colour pallet drawn from the artworks themselves, we produced an exhibition identity that also showcased the first outing for Turner Contemporary’s new brand identity.
