UCL’s site at Here East is the first presence for UCL on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. A collaborative space unlike any other: it brings together The Bartlett, UCL’s Faculty of the Built Environment, and UCL’s Faculty of Engineering Sciences.

We worked with all nine of the academic departments moving to the new site to create a set of values with copywriter Kate Van der Borgh – initially by running group workshops and interviewing the key stakeholders about their vision.

From the initial research phase and discussions – we created a manifesto with a set of core values that described what the space was about and what it hoped to achieve. This fed into all the communications around the site, and we used the manifesto as a lead graphic for the opening materials.

We also worked with paper engineer Helen Friel to create a 3D model of the new space, showcasing to visitors the enormous scale and scope of the building before it was completed. This project has grown to include launch event materials and wayfinding for the new site.

“I worked with Boyle&Perks for over a year on the positioning and launch materials for UCL’s new space at Here East. From values and manifestos, to wayfinding and physical 3D models their high-quality work and attention to detail was incredible. Our launch materials when distributed were the talk of the town!”
