From wildfire smoke and heatwaves to air pollution and viral pandemics, our warming and increasingly urbanised world is affecting our health in new and challenging ways. However research into how we manage these risks through building design and policymaking is still in its infancy. Two new ambitious and groundbreaking buildings have been created by UCL; CAVE (Controlled Active Ventilation Environment) and PEARL (Person Environment Activity Research Laboratory) are two highly innovative people-centred research spaces facilitating groundbreaking research that will help us answer the most pressing questions of our age. Introducing CAVE and PEARL: Unique spaces to make the world a better place.
